Important: How to make an appointment is changing
What is Total Triage? - A new Way to book appointments at Ongar Health Centre
What is Total Triage and when will it be implemented at Ongar Health Centre?
Total Triage is a new system being adopted by Ongar Health Centre, starting on the 13th of January 2026, this is in line with government changes to the NHS, which will mean that all request for an appointment with a Doctor will be done using a new system. It means that every request for help, whether it’s for a health concern, a sick note, or advice, will first be reviewed by a Doctor. This will also mean that that the surgery will not be offering both AM and PM appointments in its current format as patient requests will be triaged by the medical team first, so that your individual needs are addressed accordingly. They will then decide the most appropriate way to help based on urgency and who is best suited to address the issue. This system is encouraged by the NHS and is already in use by many GP practices.
How can patients request help under the new Total Triage system?
Patients have three main ways to contact the surgery:
- Online using our new booking system called Anima via our website: The quickest way to contact Ongar Health Centre with medical or administrative queries is by submitting an online request through your surgery’s website or through the NHS app.
- By phone: Patients who cannot go online can call the surgery, and a Receptionist will assist them in filling out the Anima form.
- In person: Patients can visit the reception, where a Receptionist will help them with an Anima form. Regardless of the contact method, all requests must go through Anima to ensure it is fair and safe.
What can I still do?
You can still call in to make an appointment with a Nurse, HCA and Clinical Pharmacist in the usual method.
